Planning the Nursery

With school winding down and summer quickly approaching, we've finally had some time to think about the nursery, and we decided to go with a monkey theme! We found some really cute bedding and decorations at Babies R Us that are just perfect:

I know, I know...the decorations are mainly for me, since baby won't remember them anyways. But the monkeys are super cute!! :-)

Semester grades are in...

...and I have A's in all three classes for this semester - Pre-Calculus Refresher, History of Math, and Reading in the Curriculum!! All that hard work over spring break really paid off!

And, that leaves me with only one class left before I finish the program. I've signed up to take the class in the second summer session this year which means that by August, I should be finished with my master's degree!! (Just in time, I guess!) :-)

Reunion - Class of 2001

Can you believe it has been ten years since I have graduated high school!?!?

This past weekend, we had our 10-year high school reunion in Houston, so I dug through the old photos for some choice ones from high school. Enjoy these awkward teenage pictures:

The first day of school senior year. We all decorated our cars and wore the pink senior shirts to celebrate the beginning of the end of high school! During the year, I played volleyball, made it through the Spanish IV AP, Calculus AP, and English IV AP exams, and took an amazing trip to Salamanca, Spain with several of my classmates. I also worked as the yearbook editor, putting together the entire lower school yearbook while also designing multiple pages in the high school book for senior year.

Our school's equivalent of prom was called Senior Girls - more like a theme party than an actual prom. This is my friend Sarah, who was one of the members of my wedding party. Notice the awesome platform shoes I was wearing...I loved those shoes!!

Luckily, I had a friend at another high school who invited me to his prom, so I did at least get to go to a real prom!! :-) I loved this dress, and I actually still had it eight years later when I got married! (I had it altered to a shorter length and wore it to one of my wedding showers!)

Graduation Night - May 2001
(I remember being really disappointed that we didn't get to wear black robes and just hoping that some day I would get to graduate in black! The white was nice, though, since the ceremony was outside and it was pretty warm...)

The reunion weekend was pretty fun. I went to a school event on Friday morning and had the chance to get a tour around the school to visit all of the new buildings and upgrades they have done since I left. The school looks absolutely amazing! I was really impressed with all the work they have done. The school also just purchased the land next door to the campus, so they should be rebuilding the high school in the next several years. Looks like I'll have a lot to see at the next reunion! :-)

I also had the chance to visit with some old teachers, and I was particularly excited to tell my old Pre-Calculus teacher that I was now teacher Pre-Cal and Geometry! I also visited with my favorite preschool teacher to fill her in on the past couple of years. I ended up running into a couple of preschool students, who I used to babysit, while they were walking to their classes at the high school! I couldn't believe I had the chance to see them...they are going to be seniors next year!

I also took a minute to visit the tree that Spencer's class had planted in memory of him on campus. It really looks beautiful:

On Friday night, we all met up at a friend's house and enjoyed chatting and reminiscing about high school. We make it a point to see each other almost every Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we have all attended each other's weddings in the past ten years, so the reunion was really just another reason to visit each other.

On Saturday night we all attended the class party at a restaurant downtown owned by one of our classmates. While it was nice to visit with everyone, I had more fun just talking to the friends I have kept in touch with over the years!

(We are on the way to adding babies into the mix - both Julie and I are pregnant and due the same week in September!! That will make for a fun visit at Christmas!)

The party favors from the class party - photo buttons! The top picture includes Sarah and her husband Marc. Travis was really grateful Marc was there to talk to for the entire night! They spent the evening chatting about engineering and other random topics while Sarah and I chatted with our high school friends. :-) The bottom picture is another group shot including another friend Brittany.

Overall, it was a great weekend! I still can't believe it has been ten years, but I am proud of everything I have accomplished in the last ten years and excited to see what the future brings for our growing family!
