3 Months Old!

Can you believe Barrett is three months old??!?!

Here are the pics with his giant monkey for this month:

He could be propped up for a few seconds on his own...
And then he would fall over onto the monkey's lap!

And then, he did some great tummy time next to the monkey! :-)

Here are some of the things we are doing at three months old:

Sucking our thumb...
He absolutely refuses to take a pacifier, and he only sucks his thumb at night or at naptime.  It doesn't seem like a habit that will stick around forever.  He's not really THAT interested in his thumb, but he does like to suck!

Getting really good at holding our head up for several minutes at a time...
He has also been rolling over back to front and front to back, but he isn't doing it consistently enough for me to get it on video.  I'll keep trying! :-)

Making eye contact when we talk to him...

Watching TV...
Mainly he enjoys football and Sesame Street, but he isn't too picky about what's on!

Sleeping like a CHAMP...
This kid is sleeping 10-12 hours in his crib every night
and is also taking 2-4 hour naps in his swing in the morning/afternoons.
What a blessing!

Barrett is also starting to get more vocal and much more active.  I have never seen him as energetic as he is in this video!  He has also discovered his feet and is starting to reach down and grab them now.  As you see in the video too, he is starting to enjoy kicking things!

He is also in love with anything that crinkles and makes noise.  In this video, he is playing with a bag of spinach.  I only got the last few minutes of him playing with it, but he had been sitting there for about five minutes hitting the bag and crinkling it with his hand.  He also loves rattles and the things he can push or hit to make noise.  It's fun watching him get interested in the world around him!

And here are some other photos from this past month that are just too cute to pass up.
Enjoy the extra doses of Baby Barrett!!

Hanging out with Daddy...

He has the cutest yawns!!

Indeed, he is as cute as a button :-)

Luckily, Barrett doesn't mind sharing mommy's lap.

In fact, on any given day at home, no one is more than five feet away from mommy AT ALL TIMES. This picture shows the view from my lap...

Barrett doesn't seem to mind the puppies at all!!

Look at those beautiful eyes!!

Barrett finally got to meet "aunt" Jen at Thanksgiving!! :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a little catching up to do on the blog, and thanks to Diane for making it possible!!  (She sent a new cord for my camera to transfer all my photos to the computer...I can finally get all the cute pictures off the camera and into your inboxes!! :-) Enjoy!)

For Thanksgiving this year, we traveled to Houston to celebrate with all the grandparents.  Travis made a delicious fried turkey for dinner, and we enjoyed so many wonderful foods and blessings from our family.  We are so grateful for all that we have in our lives!  And, we had such a good time that Barrett and I stayed for another week afterwards in order to finish our Christmas shopping and hang out in a real city.  I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but here are some choice favorites...  (I promise to do a better job taking photos at Christmas!!)

Here's Barrett in his Thanksgiving outfit...

Barrett enjoyed reading "The Very Hungry Caterpiller" with Cousin Richard!

The first family picture where Mommy doesn't look tired...
(It's so nice having lots of extra hands to help out with the baby!)

And, of course, we enjoyed hanging out and watching football.  Barrett loved watching the game on TV!  And, on a side note, the blanket he is playing on is the same blanket I used when I was a kid.  Somehow, I have managed to hold on to it for years, and I have enjoyed using it with Barrett!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Two Months Old!!

Baby Barrett is two months old today!!

Here's the picture with his monkey:

(Check out last month's picture here)

Things we are doing at two months old:

Lifting our head anywhere between 45 and 90 degrees...

Giving mommy lots of coos, smiles, and giggles...

Making more eye contact...
(He loves to watch the mobile over his swing, look at himself in the mirror, and watch the ceiling fan. He has also discovered his hands and loves to suck on his fingers and fists!)

Developing a good strong grip...
(He shakes that rattle all around and often hits himself in the face!)

Developing a good relationship with the puppies...
(Yes, they are both licking him, and yes, I had wipes at the ready to clean him up immediately! Barrett didn't seem to mind too much.  The puppies are really being sweet to him and often get concerned when he cries.  Rio even came running to get me one morning when he was crying, and she thought I was being too slow to get him!)

...And growing like a weed!!
(He is ALMOST too big for most of his 0-3 month old clothes! I've already had to pack most of them away and start putting him into his 3-6 months clothes.)

Here are a few other pictures for your enjoyment:

Another sweet picture with his monkey...

Completely engrossed in his new favorite show Sesame Street...
(He stares at all the characters and smiles and coos at them as well!)

Wide awake at bedtime, as usual :-)

A sweet little skeleton!!

Happy 2 months, Barrett!!! We love you!

Happy Halloween!

We really enjoyed Barrett's first Halloween!  On Friday, we went out to the Halloween party at the base, where the kids could trick or treat in all the flight rooms and then participate in the carnival set up outside.  Barrett, Grandpa Kinley, and I all went out and had a great time!

Here's Barrett all ready to go!

(Look how much bigger he is in his carseat now, compared to just a month and a half ago.
No more head support needed, and we've had to loosen the straps too!!)

We wandered around the squadron to see all the decorations, but Barrett didn't want any candy.  So we headed outside to the carnival where we...

...stopped to take a picture with a scarecrow...

...pretended to be a pilot just like Daddy...

...painted a pumpkin...

...wrote the letter "B" on our pumpkin...

...bobbed for apples...

...and then took a quick nap in Daddy's office!!

My sweet pumpkin had a great time!!

BUT...the celebration wasn't over yet!!  On Monday (Halloween) afternoon, our friend Noel, Barrett, and I all went back to the pumpkin patch and discovered that there was a fall festival across the street!  So, of course, we had to go...

This time, Barrett got to throw a football through a hoop...

...play in the water in the duck pond...

...and catch a duck to win a prize!!

Here we are with our prizes - a lollipop and a pair of cool sunglasses!

He loved that lollipop - he held onto that thing for a while!

A sweet picture with my cute little skeleton... I think he might even be smiling in this picture!

Another precious picture with my sweet baby!

After the pumpkin patch, we went back home, loaded up the stroller, leashed the dogs, and headed out into the streets for some "trick or treating".  Really, it was just a great excuse to walk the dogs and check out all the cute costumes that were running around.  We ran into several friends and had a great time.  Barrett slept for about twenty minutes, and then he stayed awake, alert, and happy for the rest of our two hour walk.  He fell asleep right away when we got back home, though! Overall, it was a really fun Halloween weekend.

And now, it's officially FALL!!!
